If you ask us, Ellijay is the greatest city in Georgia, probably even in the entire Southeast. We have so many things to do, the natural scenery is breathtaking, and our little town loves to host unique events that are fun for the whole family. Take for example our St. Patrick’s Day celebration - Ellijay hosts a parade and party honoring man’s best friend. It’s nice to have an event that the whole family, including your pets, are welcome to attend. This year’s St. Petrick’s Day Parade and Street Party is on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 1 to 5 p.m.
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think that their dog is cutest in the world, and the St. Petrick’s Day Parade gives you the opportunity to show off your canine. Everyone is welcome to participate in the parade. All you have to do is meet at Ellijay Elementary School by about 12:30 p.m. in your best St. Patrick’s Day attire with your pet(s). The parade begins at 1 and heads up Main Street, around the square and down River Street. The pets participating in the parade will stop at the River Street parking lot where the pet contest and other activities take place.
You’ll want to hang out after the parade ends to enjoy the festivities of the street party, which your pets are welcome to attend as well. There will be live music, raffles, pet vendors, food vendors and all of the downtown stores and restaurants will be open and likely to be offering their own St. Patrick’s Day specials.
It’s not too late to rent a cabin in Ellijay with us so that you can participate in the St. Patrick’s Day activities. We have a wide variety of pet friendly cabins so that your dogs don’t have to miss out on the fun. Call us for reservations and spend St. Patrick’s Day weekend in the North Georgia mountains.
